Employee Suspension: Fact Sheet
Misconduct
Share on:
In some circumstances, such as a pending an investigation into serious misconduct, an employer might choose to suspend an employee. Suspension allows the employer to direct the employee to leave the workplace for a temporary period, and is only permitted if there is a clause included in the employment agreement.
Suspension should not be used as a means to penalise an employee and as such an employee should be paid whilst suspended. Remember, allegations have not been substantiated against the employee at this stage.
